Introduction to Crack Repair
Thormaflex – Permanent crack repair system for asphalt and concrete road surfacing. This is a recess repair system involving removal of all damaged material and replacing with a flexible repair mixture. Applications include: repair of cracking and spalling failure in concrete and asphalt roads, debonding and edge failures, damaged arises, nosings, mid-bay cracking. Solution
The Cost Effective Jointing and Repair System.
Thormaflex is a flexible jointing and repair system that is the long term solution for reflective cracking in asphalt and the permanent repair of concrete joints and surfaces. With a proven performance on highways and airfields. Thormaflex outlasts other conventional repair systems.
Reflective cracking is a constant problem. There are many reasons for it, but there is a long term solution – Thormaflex. Cheap repairs and cheap products are false economies when the same crack has to be repaired over and over again.
Thormaflex goes on working.
Thormaflex combines single sized stone and polymer modified bituminous binders TF90 to provide a waterproof repair flexible enough to withstand heavy traffic . Thormaflex is installed by our own crews using specialist equipment. Volumes of 200 metres a shift is a typical output. Thormaflex cools in one hour so there is minimal disruption to traffic and it forms a compacted and level repair that actually improves the condition of damaged asphalt and concrete surfaces. Thormaflex is adaptable for all types of reflective cracks both longitudinal and transverse where there is typical width of cracking up to 500mm. The normal depth of ThormaFlex is 50mm. The exact size of repair will be dependant on the actual condition of the road surface.

Applications
- Dry and final clean using hot compressed air lance.
- Prepare hot mix of TF90 binder and single size stones and place in recess.
- Compact with vibrating plate compactor or vibrating roller.
- Allow to cool and seal with TF90 / dress with preheated stone chippings.
- Allow to cool for 1 hour prior to traffic.
