Introduction to Crack Repair Fibrescreed
Fibrescreed – A range of permanent crack repair system solutions for asphalt and concrete road surfacing.
Solution
Based on unique blend of polymer modified bitumen, crumb rubber, synthetic fibres and selected aggregates Fibrescreed provides a long term repair which remains flexible to accommodate movements in the road surfacing. Fibrescreed applications include: Recessed repairs for cracking and spalling failure in concrete and asphalt roads, debonding and edge failures, kerb sealing, SAMI for prevention of reflective cracking form occurring.
Fibrescreed is a patented system with a range of materials and solutions to a wide range of pavement and carriageway defects. The vast majority of failures on highways and aircraft pavements originate from cracks and joints which are allowed to remain untreated for extended periods, allowing water and salts to penetrate leads to the rapid deterioration of the surfaces and more extensive sub-base failures.
Fibrescreed provides a permanent repair solution for reflective cracking, potholing, spalling and edge (debonding) failure in asphalt surfaces. It is equally effective in concrete surfaces for repairing damaged arrises in joints, mid-bay cracks, spalling and debonding.
The Fibrescreed range of repair systems is based on a specially formulated polymer modified bitumen sealing and repair compounds incorporating reinforcing fibres, rubber granules and granite aggregate. These compounds are manufactured under strict factory conditions and supplied to site premixed and ready to melt and apply thus ensuring consistent quality of product.

Applications
- SAMI: Pretreatment of joints and cracks in surfacing prior to overlay with new asphalt. Prevents reflective cracking form occurring.
- CRS: Durable and flexible repair for damage in concrete surfacing including mid bay cracks, arris failure, spalling, damage to construction joints etc.
- Recessed: Durable and flexible repair for cracking in asphalt surfacing. Recess planed in the surface to remove the cracked and damaged areas. Recess filled with flexible bituminous mixture to provide permanent repair.
- Recess and infill: Recessed repair for deeper repairs. Provides same effective repair as recessed but accommodates deep repairs as well.
- Rout and Seal: For simple cracking in asphalt surfaces up to 30mm wide. Crack is routed out and filled with flexible bituminous repair material.
